Porcelain veneers can conceal these imperfections. In order to meet the diverse needs of her patients, Dr. Susana Moncada offers both traditional porcelain veneers and LUMINEERS® at her Orlando, FL, practice.

What Are Veneers?

Traditional Porcelain Veneers

When compared to LUMINEERS®, traditional porcelain veneers can treat a broader range of aesthetic concerns. If you will be receiving traditional porcelain veneers, you will undergo two separate appointments. During your first visit to our Orlando office, Dr. Moncada will remove a small layer of enamel from your teeth to prepare them for veneers placement. This process will create sufficient room for the veneers and ensure proper alignment with surrounding teeth. Next, we will take detailed impressions of the reshaped teeth. Our partner lab will use these impressions to custom-craft your veneers so that they will blend discreetly with your smile.

Before leaving this first appointment, we can provide temporary veneers for you to wear between visits so that you can maintain a functional, natural-looking smile. Once your final porcelain veneers have been created, you will return to our practice. Dr. Moncada will first double-check their fit and appearance before using a dental adhesive to secure them firmly in place, instantly and dramatically enhancing the appearance of your smile. With proper care, traditional porcelain veneers can last for many years to come.

LUMINEERS® can be an excellent option for patients who are seeking many of the same benefits of traditional veneers without the need for multiple appointments or teeth reshaping. Similar to traditional veneers, LUMINEERS® cover the front of teeth to greatly enhance their appearance. However, LUMINEERS® are made of ultra-thin porcelain, which makes them about as thin as a contact lens, so they can be placed seamlessly over teeth. As a result, a LUMINEERS® treatment can be completed during a single visit, without the need for temporaries. Despite being extremely thin, LUMINEERS® are highly durable and can last for up to 20 years. However, it is important to keep in mind that LUMINEERS® cannot conceal more significant stains as effectively as traditional types, and they may not be appropriate for you. Dr. Moncada will review the unique benefits of traditional porcelain veneers and LUMINEERS® during your initial consultation to determine the type that will best achieve your individual goals.
